Dr Samya Lakis is a Fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon. She is an active member of the AOA and RACS, in addition to the Spine Society of Australia and the Australian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society. She graduated with an MBBS from UWA and has surgical experience in diverse surgical specialties prior to proceeding with her Orthopaedic surgery training.
Post- Fellowship advanced training was performed at sites around Australia where she gained further experience in adult and paediatric spine surgery. This includes adult trauma, tumour and degenerative spine surgery. Samya attended Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland for dedicated paediatric spine trauma and deformity training, and general paediatric orthopaedic training.
Dr Samya Lakis is currently employed in both private and public practice, through Sydney Children’s Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital. Additionally, she attends an outreach clinic at Canberra, which can be booked through Orthosports at Hurstville.
Samya’s passion for many years has been education; and she actively teaches through all the societies; in addition to education for orthopaedic trainees, paediatricians, GPs, and allied health.
